Transit Method

• Phenomenon when a celestial body passes directly between a larger body and the observer
• The transiting body appears to move across the face of the larger body, covering a small portion of it
• Used to detect exoplanets
  • When the planet transits its star, the luminosity of the star changes
• Usually requires a telescope in space
